Designed by Gustav Eiffel and opened in 1852, Le Bon Marché (“the good market” or “the good deal” in French) is the biggest Left Bank department store and the oldest department store in Paris. Le Bon Marché is specialized in luxury fashion for men, women and children – with constantly renewed fashion collections from over 40 top designers – but also furniture, upscale gifts, prestigious beauty products and housewares. It is one of the 3 best known and visited department stores in Paris, along with the Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, and it is sometimes regarded as the first department store in the world. This historic store always has the most incredible window displays, especially during the holidays!
It is from far the best one for its food department called: La Grande Epicerie de Paris, a grocery department that offers you over 5.000 different products, selected from around the world. Artisanal jams made by a French artisan, hard-to-find bottle of mineral water from Wales, olive oils, an exquisite tomato sauce from Naples, the luscious pastries and fruit beg to be chosen for a snack, and much more make great gifts. What you can’t find anywhere else, you will find it there. We appreciate particularly the spanish ham’s corner with the best Spanish Jabugo in Paris… It is definitively the Haute Couture of grocery stores!
